The Social Enterprise Development Centre (SEDC) held its inaugural conference and award ceremony on the 9th Dec 2011.
The Social Enterprise Association also presented the Corporate Awards to 12 conscientious corporations. Members of Social Enterprise Association were invited to nominate organisations that have given them outstanding support and these were recognised as the broader ecosystem that is required to help social enterprises grow and thrive in Singapore and achieve the social impact that it wants to see in Singapore.
AsiaMalls is honored to be nominated by our tenant, Eighteen Chefs. Eighteen Chefs is a restaurant that trains ex-offenders and delinquents on F&B-related skill sets; skills that are highly sought after by the F&B industry in Singapore. With good attitude and hard work, the ex-offenders and delinquents get a second chance to start a new chapter in life.
We are proud to assist Eighteen Chefs in their mission to change lives. This partnership with Eighteen Chef has provided AsiaMalls with the opportunity to help make a difference in a small way whilst achieving its mission of giving back to the community.
Social enterprises are organisations that seek to achieve social impact by meeting a social need through the adoption of a business model.
The key mission of the SEDC is to build up the institutional capacity of its social enterprise members. Hence, the event was focused on strengthening social enterprises in Singapore. To date, there are 158 social enterprise members under the Social Enterprise Association.
