Preventive Measures for Staff, Shoppers and Tenants Against Influenza A Virus

Since April 2009, all six malls managed by AsiaMalls have implemented a comprehensive plan of precautionary measures to guard against the Influenza A Virus Pandemic.

• Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting;
• Staff from both the centre management team and shops have been informed to take their temperatures daily before reporting for work; and
• Staff have been briefed on the required procedures to assist shoppers while they await medical attention in the event they show symptoms of the virus while they are at the mall.

General Manger Ms Stephanie Ho emphasized, “We will not spare any cost to ensure that a high level of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained at all times in our malls. We will also work closely with the respective government bodies to implement any additional measures wherever necessary.”

To build up shoppers’ anticipation of the new mall’s offerings, teaser advertisements in manga-style comic strips featured a young girl Naomi who has found a new interest. The full story on Naomi in beautifully illustrated manga-style comics on a double page spread took readers on a walk-through tour of the revitalized mall.

Naomi literally morphed into a real-life character - she created hype about mall events through Facebook and appeared in person during Liang Court’s Grand Opening events!

Congratulations to Audrey Balakrishnan, Jerry Miranda, Alice Ng and Jeanie Tan from Liang Court and to the creative teams from Planet Ads and Design and Vocanic!

Liang Court - One of Singapore's First 2 Energy Smart Retail Malls

Liang Court was recognized by the National Environment Agency (NEA) in March 09 as one of Singapore’s first two Energy Smart Retail Malls.

The Energy Smart Retail Mall label recognizes the top 25 percent of participating shopping malls that have achieved exemplary energy efficiency and good indoor environmental quality.

Liang Court’s energy smart measures:

  • Merging of two sets of chillers for better control and effective energy loading
  • Replacement of old cooling towers for better heat transfer
  • Use of energy saving light bulbs
  • Reconfiguration of shop layout which resulted in a reduction in the number of escalators from 18 to 9 and better distribution of lighting and airconditioning.

As a result of these measures, electrical consumption was reduced by 500MWh per year, which translates to cost savings of some $100,000 per year.
